As the girls' first birthday approaches, Ginnie & I flew down Saturday to spend a week. Sarah's mom had arrived earlier in the day. This is the scene Sunday morning. While the camera has image stabilization, the girls don't, and the motion is a blur.

I had to resort to a flash shot to get a clear picture. [Rebecca, Emma, Julie (l-r)]
We all went to a photography studio for a round of birthday pictures. The girls did very well and generally hammed it up for the camera. The photographer tried to get one shot of them from the back, but they are so used to cameras they kept spinning around to check out the action.
Sunday afternoon Sarah & Greg went out for lunch and some errands. The grandparents were charged with seeing that the girls got a good nap as we were planning to go out for dinner. Things went quite well for a while, but Emma & Julie didn't settle down and woke up Rebecca. We resorted to separating them to quiet things down. Grace & Julie napped
in Sarah & Greg's room. I managed to get Rebecca quieted down in her crib. Ginnie & Emma snoozed in the guest room; well Emma snoozed, at least. Here is they are waking up.
Sunday night we all headed out for dinner to McAlister's deli. The family has done this before, and they were well prepared with all the right stuff. This was the first time they just fed the girls table food - some mashed up baked potato, a bit of chicken, and some mac & cheese. They had plastic stick-on place mats for the girls to eat from. We all had a great time; the staff got a kick out of the scene as well, in spite of a bit of extra clean up.
